Breakfast with the Zwicks

Mike and I met in Vermont. I was there for work, he is (at least for the time being) living there.
A large group of us were going out to dinner and my friend Rob who I had traveled up there with had invited his friend (Mike) to join us. After getting back home I got a call from Rob asking me if it was okay for him to give Mike my phone number... And that's how we got to my first post about him, five whole weeks ago.

This past weekend, Mike invited me to join him at his family's Christmas party in New Jersey. Saturday was spent with his family and that night we had drinks with his friend. After spending the night at his father's house, we had breakfast with Rob, his wife Garen and their son Matthew.

I've known Rob for a couple of years now. We usually see each other a couple of times each year while out of town at conferences. I hadn't met Garen until this weekend, though since I've started dating Mike we've chatted on the phone when Rob calls for updates and she's been quite the cheerleader!

The 5 of us met at The Turning Point in Manalapan. While waiting for our table, Garen pointed out the The Situation's brother was just ahead of us paying for his breakfast, and Matty and I both agreed that we were starving!

Once we sat we ordered some drinks - chocolate milk for Matty (which Garen can attest to how quickly he drank it... had to have been record time), coffee for Mike, a French press pot of coffee that Garen and I shared and a hot chocolate with whipped cream, chocolate and caramel sauce for Rob (which he got a free refill of because they had to make it in a "small" cup).

I only managed to get pictures of mine and Rob's meals, so I apologize for that in advance! Mike started cutting his up before I had a chance to snap a pic and Garen is currently eating for 3 so I felt fairly confident that she would want to start eating right away!

Being a worldly boy, Matty ordered fresh fruit and yogurt. From what I hear, at 3, his refined palate doesn't allow for eggs, pancakes or waffles (a boy after my own heart)!
Garen had the Wilbur Skiller with bacon, potato, avocado and diced tomato. It was topped with Monterey Jack Cheese and eggs.
Mike had Huevos Rancheros (which I'm hoping I don't have to explain to you). He let me have a bite and it was really good.
Rob went for the day's special - sweet potato pancakes that were topped with granola and dried cranberries.
And I went for the Lemon Blueberry Dream - blueberry pancakes with lemon zest.

We all left breakfast full and happy. It was nice to see Rob closer to home for once, and really lovely meeting Garen. I'm looking forward to hanging out with her again!
